Liftgate Cannot Open
Open the liftgate from the luggage compartment
If the lead-acid battery is dead, the liftgate cannot be unlocked and opened. In this case, the liftgate can be unlocked by taking care of the dead battery situation.

If the liftgate cannot be unlocked even after charging the dead lead-acid battery, you can open the liftgate as an emergency measure by following the procedure below.

Fold down the rear seatbacks.

Remove the cover.

Move the lever.
(Vehicles with power liftgate)
(Vehicles without power liftgate)
The liftgate is unlocked.
After performing this emergency measure, have the vehicle inspected by an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
